Primary Purpose of the Position The Laboratory Coordinator is responsible for technical support activities in the areas of teaching and learning in Natural Sciences, facilitating laboratory processes, and ensuring that all laboratory-dependent teaching activities are conducted in accordance with school policy, current legislation, and good laboratory practices. They are the technical supervisor for the purchase, maintenance, storage, handling, and disposal of all chemical products within the institution. O Coordenador de Laboratório é responsável pelas atividades de suporte técnico às áreas de ensino e aprendizagem das disciplinas de Ciências da Natureza, facilitando processos laboratoriais e garantindo que todas as atividades de ensino dependentes do laboratório sejam realizadas de acordo com a política escolar, legislação vigente e as boas práticas de laboratório. É o responsável técnico pelas compras, manutenção, guarda, manuseio e descarte de todos os produtos químicos da instituição. Principle Duties and Responsibilities Provide technical support to the Faculty of the Science Department by preparing and organizing glassware, equipment, chemical solutions, reagents, and similar materials for practical classes. Facilitate laboratory processes, ensuring that the necessary resources and materials are available for teaching practical activities. Assist teachers and students during practical classes, depending on scheduling availability. Ensure that all laboratory-dependent teaching activities are conducted in accordance with school policy, current legislation, and good laboratory practices, ensuring the safety of students and the integrity of experiments. Maintain a clean and organized work area (keep Science laboratories and their equipment and services in order). Maintain a complete inventory and ordering system, ensuring periodic updating of the chemical reagents database, always complying with current legislation. Manage inventory and account for losses. Check deliveries and reorder essential items as needed. Monitor, control, and maintain records of departmental expenses in accordance with school policy. Act as the technical responsible party for the purchase, maintenance, storage, handling, and disposal of all chemical products in the institution, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Carry out the control and registration of regulated chemical products, being responsible for submitting control and usage reports to the Army, Civil Police, and Federal Police, in addition to renewing the licenses for the use of these products with these institutions. Acquire and dispose of laboratory materials waste, including chemical, microbiological, and animal-origin waste, according to Health and Biosafety requirements and to the Brazilian legislation. Maintain accurate records of chemical product and laboratory material stocks, conducting regular inventories and ensuring adequate supply for educational activities. Preserve equipment integrity by performing internal calibration and maintenance, and arranging external repairs with specialized suppliers. Develop new systems in the laboratories to enhance technical support services. Collaborate with other departments and institution staff to ensure effective integration of laboratory resources into educational activities and the school curriculum. Participate in Department and Division meetings as needed. Certifications and Education Advanced degree in Chemistry Experience 1-2 years of experience working in a private laboratory Previous experience in schools - Desired IB experience- Desired Benefícios: -.
